if a good friend of mine is dating someone seriously & he seems like a good dude i try to get to know him a bit better. i treat him sort of as a “step friend.” BUT…I maintain boundaries at all times.
Same here, step friend is the perfect term for that. That’s why I’m encouraging her to talk to her friend first, just to ease her mind. I understand the concern, maybe she’s seeing signs that make her uneasy.

I became close friends with my best friend’s boyfriend and it was nothing. I simply thought he was a great guy… It was completely platonic. She didn’t feel threatened by it, she just hated that I sided with him when they argued sometimes.
Lol I’ve done that too, I’m very good friends with one of my friend’s husbands, and my best friend’s fiancee. No problems there, no suspicions, BUT I fear that this anon’s best friend may be doing something that gives her pause. Or perhaps she’s flirting a little, maybe she’s never tried to be friend’s with any of her boyfriends before and now she is. I don’t know, I just want her to keep an open mind and just speak up about it.
